How to buy art in 2021
Developing a taste for collecting new artists

New collectors are always welcome in the art world. Galleries are always looking for new collectors, but today the Art ecosystem uses online viewing to educate new art collectors.
We are seeing more Art being sold online than ever before. Of course, purchasing from a Gallery online is the safest way to begin, but social media apps like Instagram and youtube have served as a hub that allows buyers to discover Art and get to know the artist.
Most of my Art is now being purchased online through Galleries who have curated my pieces and fans of my instagram page. @jacquelinejaxartist Through my instagram page I can connect with art lovers and help them make their buying decisions based on connection and budget. When a fan of my work wants to complete a purchase, they finalize the sale through my website. www.jacquelinejax.com

Things to consider before you purchase art
- As an Art buyer, it’s important to educate yourself on the history of the artist, how they create and why they make art.
- The work has to be visually compelling to you. Every piece of art that you purchase should be something that you enjoy.
- The work needs to be relevant to your beliefs. To enjoy art, you need to understand the subject and see something in that painting that speaks to you on your level of understanding.
- Align the art with your needs so you can display it. A great reason to purchase art is to display it in your own home or workplace. You certainly want to show off your collection and enjoy it every day, considering your space and how the artwork will fit into your space. Many times I’ve loved a painting so much that I design a space for it.
- Don’t buy art to resell it. Art matures over time, so the resell market isn’t always best in the same year the art is purchased. Focus on buying art that you love and from artists, you want to support.
- Buy to support the artist. When you get to know a particular artist you want to support, become a Patreon by purchasing their work. The Art ecosystem is filled with supportive patrons who buy from new artists to encourage them. This is an essential part of the Art world because these buyers help to grow and nurture new talent. Typically artists have art at many different price ranges so be sure to invest in your budget and find something you love in a price range you can afford.
